BIO
Judith A. Michaelson is the President of JAM Marketing LLC, a Delaware, Ohio based consulting firm focused on helping organizations design and implement short-term marketing strategies that yield long-term results.

From 1996 to 1999, Judy served as Director of Marketing for The Ohio Manufacturers’ Association (OMA).  The OMA is a statewide trade association focused on lobbying on behalf of its more than 2600 member companies.  In her role as head of marketing, she was responsible for bringing an overall marketing focus to the organization, including product diversification, market positioning, and membership sales and retention.  This marketing focus resulted in a 40% increase in new member sales within her first year with the organization.

Ms. Michaelson has an extensive background in marketing and communications, as well as more than fifteen years of experience in the online industry.  Prior to joining the OMA, she served as Director of Marketing of the Ohio Professional Electronic Network (OPEN), a subscriber-based information service providing online computer access to public record databases. During her first year with the company, she repositioned the product in the marketplace, resulting in a 300% increase in revenue.

From 1986-1993 she directed the communications program at OCLC Online Computer Library Center, a $190 million not-for-profit corporation located in Dublin, Ohio, serving more than 50,000 libraries worldwide.  OCLC maintains the world’s largest database of bibliographic information.  In her capacity as Director of Marketing Communications, she designed and coordinated the implementation of marketing programs to introduce new OCLC products and services, including developing campaigns to successfully launch OCLC into new areas of business.  This work included strategizing and orchestrating the product launch of FirstSearch, including the development of product identity (name, logo and packaging) and a multi-level strategic marketing plan to reach multiple target audiences.  She was instrumental in developing OCLC’s first Marketing and Sales Plans, integrating all aspects of the marketing program for maximum effectiveness.

Before joining OCLC, Judy enjoyed thirteen years working in public libraries.  She served as Coordinator of Community Services for the Worthington Public Library from 1979-1986 and as Assistant Librarian of the Delaware County District Library from 1973-1979. In both positions she was responsible for building awareness of library services and increasing library usage.  She has also worked in publishing, as an editorial assistant and literary agent.

A native of Rockville Center, New York, Ms. Michaelson received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a Masters in Library Science degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
